What’s Happening in Southwest Las Vegas: Late October 2026

The next two and a half weeks are the busiest stretch on the Southwest calendar all year: a headlining poolside concert at Durango, the Southern Highlands Fall Festival, a Saturday double-header across Mountain’s Edge and the Asian Lantern Festival, the Chaiya Monastery Thai food fair, and Halloween weekend. I live in Rhodes Ranch, I show homes in all five communities every week, and I am telling you exactly what is worth your Saturday, from the front seat of my car between showings.

Since my mid-October update went live, the big-ticket items all confirmed: Switchfoot brings Anberlin to Bel-Aire Backyard on October 17, the Fall Festival locks in the same Saturday, and October 24 shapes up as the event of the year in the Southwest, with the Renaissance Fair ending at 5:00 PM and the lantern festival lighting up less than twenty minutes away at 5:00 PM. Here is the whole map, personal picks included.

October in the Southwest starts with pumpkins and ends with fireworks, and this year the back half of the month is the payoff. Here is everything I am circling on my own calendar, plus a few things that are easy to miss.

Switchfoot & Anberlin Close Out Poolside Season at Durango

The Bel-Aire Backyard poolside concert series has been the gift that keeps giving all fall. Lit with Sponge packed the house on October 3, Blues Traveler played the following Sunday, and now the closer lands: Switchfoot with special guest Anberlin on the Forever Now Tour, Saturday, October 17, doors 7:00 PM, show 8:00 PM under the palms at Durango’s pool. It is the last big show of the season, and Burn N’ Brunch runs its final weekend the same day, so it is a full-day outing, ten minutes from anywhere in the Southwest.

And the $385 million north expansion keeps rising in the background: the new bowling and theater wing is well past its halfway mark, which means the Southwest’s only full-scale resort is about to get even more reasons to stay local. Every house I show near Durango, buyers ask about the expansion first.

The Southern Highlands Fall Festival Is This Saturday

Mark Saturday, October 17 for the Southern Highlands Fall Festival at Goett Family Park (10950 Southern Highlands Pkwy), 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It is free, with a pumpkin patch, costume contest, games, food trucks, and live entertainment, and proceeds benefit the Southern Highlands Boys & Girls Club. It is the classic family event I recommend to every buyer with kids, and a perfect excuse to walk a neighborhood that is normally behind gates.

The UnCommons: Harvest Weekends, a Taste Event & STIX ASIA

The UnCommon Harvest Festival runs every Friday and Saturday in October from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Etho Park, with the pumpkin patch, vendors, and games, and the petting zoo returns October 17 and 24. New this month, the campus adds Taste of UnCommons on Saturday, October 24, 6:00–8:00 PM in The Quad, a 21-and-up ticketed evening of food and drink pairings across the UnCommons kitchens. The Sunday farmers market (10:00 AM to 2:00 PM) keeps running right through the season.

The big one everyone asks about is still coming: STIX ASIA, the 18,000-square-foot Asian food hall, is on track for a winter opening with twelve stalls, and the first three concepts, Ginza Bairin, Ramen Bario, and Nanamusubi, are confirmed. When it opens I will post it the same day.

If you want to wake up in the middle of all of it, the Vestra condos at The UnCommons are renting studios through 3-bedrooms with resort-style amenities, monthly rents starting around $1,760. I earn a commission on Vestra leases and pass along special referral rates, so asking me costs you nothing.

Saturday, October 24: The Double-Header of the Season

If you only do one day this fall, do October 24. Start at Mountain’s Edge’s Starry Knights & Pumpkin Lights Renaissance Fair at Exploration Peak Park (9275 S Buffalo Dr), 1:00 to 5:00 PM, a free medieval-themed event with knights, castles, a royal court, and a castle-themed pumpkin patch where Mountain’s Edge residents can reserve a pumpkin. Then drive the ten minutes to the Asian Lantern Festival at the Desert Breeze Event Center (8455 Kids Zone Pkwy), 5:00 to 11:00 PM, the annual AANHPI celebration hosted by the Asian Community Development Council, with food vendors, cultural performances, lantern displays, and photo booths, general admission around $5.25 and kids under six free with a ticket. Renaissance knights to lanterns in one night, and both are basically in our backyard.

Mountain’s Edge keeps the whole season full: Candidate Night on Thursday, October 15 (6:00–8:00 PM), the community Farmers Market at Exploration Peak Park on Tuesday, October 27 (2:00–7:00 PM), and a free Glow-in-the-Dark Flow community pop-up at the park on Wednesday, October 28.

The Chaiya Monastery Thai Food Fair Is October 25

One for my Thai community people: the Chaiya Meditation Monastery (7925 Virtue Ct) runs its monthly fundraising Thai food fair on Sunday mornings, and the late-October edition falls on Sunday, October 25, roughly 9:00 AM to noon. Home-style Thai cooking, sticky rice, curries, and a cause worth supporting, all ten minutes from the Southwest master plans. I speak Thai and I bring clients here every year. Confirm the exact date on the monastery’s site, chaiyacmm.org, before you head over.

And the food scene keeps stacking up around it: Kinzuu Izakaya, the Japanese-Thai spot from the Weera Thai family on south Rainbow Boulevard, is already one of my favorite new tables in the corridor. This is what I mean when I tell buyers the Southwest out-eats Summerlin now: we have the poolside concerts, the festivals, and the food.

Halloween Weekend & The Bend’s Happy Hour Map

Halloween lands Saturday, October 31, and the whole corridor leans in: the UnCommon Harvest Festival runs its final weekend October 30–31, Mountain’s Edge’s MEMA Trick-or-Treat Trail and community decorating contest are open to registrations now, and the neighborhoods across Rhodes Ranch and Southern Highlands fill with trunk-or-treat events posted on their community pages. If you are deciding between communities, the trick-or-treat trails are a great way to feel the family vibe.

For the grown-up version, The Bend keeps its happy hour board live: Butcher & Thief runs daily deals from 3:00 to 5:30 PM (Garage Beer at $4, draft wine at $6, well cocktails at $8, and small plates like shishito peppers and cheesesteak egg rolls at $9), and Evolve Brewing pours with 50% off pizzas Monday through Friday, 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The monthly Espresso & Exotics car meet with Mothership Coffee returns the second Sunday, and Electric Pickle’s nine-court pickleball complex is the big Phase 2 anchor still to come.

What Is Coming Next: Roads, Life Time & the Winter Build-Out

Behind the festival calendar, the Southwest keeps building. The new CC-215 on-ramps at Sunset and Durango are still mid-build with lane shifts through the fall, Clark County’s Warm Springs, Decatur, and Valley View road and signal upgrades continue through March 2027, and Life Time’s Durango club at 8555 West Sunset Road is officially slated to arrive in December, the company’s 200th location with six indoor pickleball courts, resort pools, and a full spa across three stories. It is the kind of amenity that changes how buyers weigh the corridor, and it is landing after years of groundwork the whole valley is watching.

I track all of it on the Events & Venues page and in my weekly updates, and the full community picture, including builders and schools, lives on my neighborhood guides.

From One Resident to Another

I live in this neighborhood, I will be at the Fall Festival on the 17th, I will be at Exploration Peak and the lantern festival on the 24th, and I will be first in line at the Chaiya food fair on the 25th. If you are thinking about renting at Vestra, buying in Southern Highlands or Mountain’s Edge before the last lots are gone, or just want a personal tour of everything above, my door is open. English, Thai, or German.
