Welcome to the very first edition of Dining Spotlight of the Week. Every week I'll feature one restaurant in Southwest Las Vegas that I genuinely love and think you should know about. First up is Weera Thai on Rainbow Boulevard, one of my absolute favorite spots in the valley.

Your Local Guide
I'm kicking off a new weekly series today. Every week I'll feature a restaurant in Southwest Las Vegas that I personally love, visit regularly, and think you should try. I'm not a food critic. I'm just a local who eats out a lot and knows good food when I taste it. This is the first one.
Weera Thai at 7337 S Rainbow Blvd #101 is the restaurant I bring friends from out of town, the one I recommend when clients ask for a date night spot, and the one I crave when I'm not eating there. It sits on Rainbow Boulevard in Southwest Las Vegas with easy access from the 215 Beltway, right in the heart of the corridor I call home.

What Makes It Special
Weera Thai isn't just another Thai restaurant. The interior is genuinely beautiful — think elegant Southeast Asian design with warm wood accents, ornate carvings, and soft lighting that makes every meal feel like a special occasion. You walk in and it feels like you've stepped into a 5-star resort dining room in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. It's elevated without being stuffy, refined without being pretentious.
I speak Thai fluently. I grew up eating authentic Thai food cooked by people who learned from their mothers and grandmothers. So when I tell you this place is the real deal, I mean it. The flavors are layered, the spice levels are honest (when they say spicy, they mean it), and every dish tastes like someone in the kitchen cares deeply about what they're making.
Must-Try Dishes
I've been here more times than I can count, and I keep ordering the same things because they're that good. If it's your first visit, here's what you need to try:
Khao Soi (Crispy Duck)
Northern Thai coconut curry noodle soup with crispy duck. The broth is rich and aromatic, the duck is perfectly rendered, and the crispy fried noodles on top add texture that makes every spoonful interesting. This is the dish I order every single time.
Crab Fried Rice
Generous chunks of crab folded into jasmine rice with egg, scallions, and a delicate seasoning that lets the crab shine. Simple ingredients, executed perfectly.
Seafood Tom Yum Soup
The iconic Thai hot and sour soup, loaded with shrimp, squid, and mussels. The broth is the star — tangy, spicy, fragrant with lemongrass and kaffir lime. It's the kind of soup that clears your sinuses and warms your soul.
Yellow Curry
Rich, creamy, and mildly spiced with potatoes and vegetables. The coconut milk base is silky and the curry paste is clearly made in-house. A comfort dish that never misses.
Fresh Spring Rolls
Rice paper wrapped around fresh herbs, vermicelli noodles, shrimp, and lettuce, served with a housemade peanut sauce. Light, fresh, and the perfect starter.
Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp
Served in a hollowed pineapple — because presentation matters. Jasmine rice fried with shrimp, pineapple chunks, cashews, and curry powder. Sweet, savory, and satisfying.
Clams with Curry Sauce
Fresh clams wok-fried in a fragrant curry sauce that's perfect for spooning over rice. The sauce alone is worth the trip — peppery, aromatic, and deeply savory.
The Vibe
Weera Thai nails the balance between upscale and welcoming. It works for date nights (the lighting and decor set the mood without trying too hard), family dinners (the menu has enough variety that even picky eaters find something), and impressing out-of-town guests who think Vegas dining is all buffets and steakhouses.
The service is attentive without hovering. The restaurant stays busy, especially on weekends, so I'd recommend going early or making a reservation if you can. But even during peak hours, the kitchen turns out food quickly and consistently. I've never had a bad meal here.
My Personal Take
I speak Thai. I grew up around authentic Thai cooking. And I've eaten Thai food all over this country — from Los Angeles to New York to right here in Las Vegas. Weera Thai on Rainbow is one of my favorite spots in the entire valley, period.
There's something special about being able to walk into a restaurant, speak the language with the staff, and feel the genuine warmth of people who are proud of what they serve. That's what I get at Weera Thai every time. And I love being able to share that experience with clients and friends who want to discover what makes this corner of Las Vegas so unique.
The Southwest dining scene is booming — more exciting restaurants open every quarter, and the quality keeps rising. But Weera Thai has been a steady presence, delivering authentic Thai food in a gorgeous setting, and it deserves to be celebrated.
